Is C-State causing FPS drops on Colorful B760M-D PRO V20?
Watching my FPS bounce between 90 and 50 was driving me insane, especially during those high-speed swings through Manhattan. The default power scheduling on the Colorful B760M-D PRO V20 was failing to handle the rapid I/O shifts, with the clock speed jumping between 3.6GHz and 4.8GHz. This caused frame times to fluctuate between 11-28ms. I tried the 'Ultimate Performance' plan in Windows, but that just pushed the CPU to 95℃ and triggered a thermal throttle—completely useless. I headed into BIOS, disabled C-State entirely, and set the CPU performance bias to 'Maximum' while cranking the fan curve to aggressive. Checking the RTSS graph, the frame time variance shrunk from 13-28ms to a stable 11-14ms. I did notice some annoying coil whine during idle after disabling the power savings, but a tiny -0.02V offset voltage tweak silenced it. CPU temps settled at 72-78℃. The difference is night and day; the input lag is gone and the game finally feels responsive.
