Is it time to repaste my DeepCool AK500 for MGSV Definitive?
Watching my FPS jump between 60 and 45 was a total nightmare, especially during stealth runs where precision is everything. The DeepCool AK500 should have handled this easily, but my monitoring showed cores hitting 88°C - 92°C, which screamed 'bad mounting pressure.' I tried switching to a High Performance power plan, but that was a disaster—temps shot to 98°C and the PC just shut down. I eventually ripped the cooler off, ditched the stock paste for a high-conductivity liquid metal alternative, and used the nine-dot method. According to RTSS, temps plummeted to 65°C - 72°C and frame times locked in at 16.6ms. I actually had a heart attack when some paste leaked onto the motherboard capacitors, but a bit of isopropyl alcohol cleaned it right up. Fan speeds are now a quiet 1100 - 1300 RPM. Thermal efficiency is up by about 15%, and the system is finally dialed in.
