Fixing CPU throttling on DeepCool AK500 in Gears 5?
It's honestly ridiculous that a cooler marketed as an 'Ice Cube' let my CPU hit 97℃ in ten minutes. The AK500 White ARGB just can't handle 200W bursts; the heat soak is real, and I was hitting the thermal wall in under three minutes. I tried blasting the fans at 100%, but the noise was like a jet engine taking off in my room, and the temps only dropped by 2℃. Total waste of time. I eventually went into the BIOS and capped the PL1 power limit to 115W and set the fan curve to hit 100% the moment it touches 70℃. RTSS shows clocks are now stable between 4.4GHz - 4.7GHz. I noticed a roughly 8% dip in multi-core benchmarks after the cap, but I managed to claw that back by applying a -0.04V voltage offset. Temps now hover around 82℃ - 86℃. The fan noise is still there at 1400 - 1600 RPM, but at least the game doesn't crash.
