Monitoring Noctua NH-D15 G2 thermal loads in Splinter Cell
During high-precision stealth moves, I noticed these tiny, irritating hitches that were obvious since I lock the game at 120 FPS. I pulled up the GamePP Hardware Sensor Page and saw that the Noctua NH-D15 G2 cores were hitting 82°C - 86°C on HWiNFO. While not at the absolute limit, the clock speeds were fluctuating just enough to cause the stutter. I tried lowering shadow quality in-game, but the drops stayed, which proved it was a CPU thermal management issue, not a GPU bottleneck. That realization was key. I went into the GamePP Fan Curve Config Panel and bumped the 80°C fan speed from 70% to 90%.
