Is VRAM overheating causing lag in Manor Lords on the RTX 5080 OC?
Whenever I zoomed out quickly, I'd get these random 20 FPS drops that were incredibly jarring. I checked GPU-Z and found the VRAM was hitting over 95°C, triggering a forced downclock that throttled the render pipeline. I tried messing with Windows power settings, but that was a complete waste of time since it's a physical heat issue. I ended up adding custom pure copper heatsinks to the VRAM and synced my case fans directly to the GPU temp sensor. In real-time monitoring, VRAM temps plummeted from 98-102°C down to 78-84°C, and the read/write speeds stabilized. I had a bit of a struggle installing the heatsinks because they were too thick and the GPU bracket wouldn't close, so I had to swap them for 3mm thin pads. Now the GPU core stays at 62-68°C and fans are at 1800 RPM. Ran a VRAM benchmark and the speeds are flat now, with memory staying around 58-63°C.
