Solving Crucial DDR5 4800MHz latency issues in Alan Wake 2
Every time the scene shifted, the loading bar would hang at 70% for a few seconds. It completely broke the psychological tension of the game. I found the Crucial DDR5 4800MHz 16GB was fluctuating by 150-250MHz in Auto mode, pushing response times up to 110-170ms. I tried updating the memory drivers in Windows, but it only shaved off one second—basically useless. I eventually flashed the latest BIOS firmware and manually locked the XMP profile to 4800MHz, while nudging the SoC voltage to 1.15V. In CrystalDiskMark, the throughput jumped from a shaky 32GB/s to a solid 36-40GB/s, and loading times dropped from 18 seconds to 11 seconds. I actually failed the BIOS flash once because my USB drive was the wrong format; I had to reformat it to FAT32 to get it to work. RAM temps are now 48-55℃. After ten consecutive loads, the speed is perfectly consistent.
