Can a BIOS update fix Kioxia EXCERIA PLUS G4 lag in FS25?
The moment I saw my boot time drop from 30 seconds to 8 seconds, I was absolutely stoked. The efficiency gain is huge. When I first installed the drive, the system would just hang at the motherboard logo for ten seconds before the game would even try to launch. The boot logic was just sluggish with the Gen5 protocol, and it felt like I was fighting the hardware. I flashed the latest BIOS version and forced the NVMe protocol to 'High Performance' mode. The boot logs showed the hardware initialization sequence was finally optimized. I did have a scare where the boot device disappeared after the first flash, but manually re-assigning the boot priority in the BIOS fixed it. Temps are hovering around 48℃-54℃, and peak reads are steady at 10 GB/s. Updating the firmware to solve protocol conflicts is always a gamble, but the responsiveness is on another level now. I just switched the boot mode in the BIOS and called it a day.
