Why does Pacific Drive cause my PC to black screen and reboot?

Driving through the misty forest was a nightmare when my PC suddenly black-screened; the unpredictability was distressing. I first tried lowering the CPU core voltage by 0.05V in software, but my minimum FPS dropped from 55 to 41, which was a frustrating sacrifice. I used the GamePP Hardware Sensor Page to find the hotspot, then re-applied thermal paste to the PCCooler RZ820. The core temperature delta shrank to 4-7℃ per AIDA64, and it ran for 4 hours without a reboot per GamePP stress test.
