Is the Seagate Firecuda 540 2TB unstable in Mass Effect?
The ship interiors, which should look sleek, suddenly turned into these glitchy, psychedelic blocks of color—it was a total nightmare during combat. While the Seagate Firecuda 540 2TB hits sequential reads over 7GB/s, the random read latency was jumping all over the place between 42-58ns. I first tried forcing the PCIe mode to Gen 4.0 in the BIOS, but that just led to a loop of BSODs, which was honestly demoralizing. I finally grabbed the latest 3.1.2 firmware from the official site and nudged the motherboard PCIe slot voltage to a stable 1.08V. Running AIDA64, my random reads jumped from 78MB/s to a solid 102-118MB/s, and those instant texture hitches vanished. I did get a bit paranoid when I saw the heatsink hitting 62-68℃, thinking it would throttle. I had to tweak my case airflow and bump the intake by 15% to keep it under 54-58℃. System logs now show zero transmission errors, and the drive temp is staying put at 54-58℃.
