How to stop Far Cry 6 from crashing on Colorful B760M-D PRO?
There is nothing more frustrating than sneaking through a jungle only to be kicked back to the desktop. It turns out the storage link was triggering data retransmissions under heavy load. The M.2 slot on the Colorful B760M-D PRO V20 was set to 'Auto,' causing the link to flip-flop between Gen4 and Gen3, which led to a sync error and a full driver reset. I wasted time updating every chipset driver available, but the crash still happened like clockwork every five minutes. I realized it was a low-level protocol issue, so I went into the BIOS and forced the PCIe slot to Gen3/Gen4 (depending on the drive) and disabled 'Link State Power Management' in Windows. After a three-hour session, the crashes vanished completely. I did notice the SSD idle temp climbed by 3℃, but after tweaking my case airflow, I got it back down to 42-48℃. VRMs are now stable at 55-62℃ and memory stays between 52-58℃. The read/write curve is finally smooth.
