Why does Silent Hill 2 freeze on loading screens with 8GB RAM?

Every time I entered a new fog region, the game would freeze without warning at the loading screen, which was absolute torture. I tried lowering all graphics settings to the minimum, but the freezes persisted, making the effort feel pointless. I used the GamePP Resource Scheduler to manually expand virtual memory to 16GB and elevated the process priority. Crashes were eliminated, and frame times stabilized at 33-35ms per GamePP, while RAM usage hit 7.8-8.0GB per GamePP.
