Can disk temperature cause stutters on Samsung 9100 PRO 8TB?
While diving through the city, I noticed these tiny, annoying hitches that were way too obvious at 4K. I checked the GamePP Hardware Sensor Page and saw my Samsung 9100 PRO 8TB hitting 72°C - 78°C (HWiNFO) during heavy I/O. It wasn't hitting the hard thermal limit, but the controller was definitely fluctuating. I first tried lowering texture quality in-game, but the hitches stayed, which proved the issue was disk I/O thermal management, not VRAM—that realization was a relief. I then went into the GamePP Fan Curve Config Panel and forced the M.2 heatsink fan to 88% once the drive hit 65°C.
