How to fix screen tearing on Vastarmor RX 9070 XT?
Exploring the open world is gorgeous, but seeing horizontal image breaks across the middle of the screen on a 165Hz monitor is incredibly distracting. The Vastarmor RX 9070 XT core was running between 2.5GHz - 2.7GHz, but there was a 3-6ms phase offset between the driver sync signal and the monitor's refresh rate. I first tried enabling V-Sync in-game, but that pushed input lag over 35ms—the controls felt mushy and unresponsive. Instead, I went into the AMD Software, forced FreeSync on, and used RTSS to cap the max frame rate at 162 FPS to stay within the sync range. The frame time graph went from erratic spikes to a flat 6-9ms line, and the tearing vanished. I did see some slight flickering at first, but switching the monitor output color format from YCbCr to RGB fixed it completely. GPU temps are now 62-67℃ with power draw at 220-250W. Frame generation is now a stable 6-9ms.
