Why is my Zhitai TiPro9000 2TB slowing down in Cyberpunk 2077?
Fast traveling around Night City started taking 20 seconds instead of the usual 8, which is a total drag when you're jumping across the map. The SLC cache on the Zhitai TiPro9000 2TB gets filled up after heavy writes, and the random read speed tanks from 80MB/s down to about 30MB/s, creating a massive bottleneck. I tried running a disk defrag, which I quickly realized is completely pointless for an NVMe drive and just adds unnecessary wear—total rookie mistake. I installed the latest firmware and switched the write cache policy in Device Manager to 'Force Flush,' while also disabling the HDD power-saving mode in my power plan. In CrystalDiskMark, the 4K random reads climbed back up from 42MB/s to a steady 65MB - 72MB/s. I had a scare where the drive wasn't detected after the firmware update, but a quick reseat of the M.2 slot fixed it. Temps are fine at 42℃ - 52℃. Comparing the load times now, everything is back to normal.
