Is the B240 pump too weak for Civ 7 late-game?
Every time the AI calculates a late-game turn, my CPU feels like it's frying an egg, and frames tank to 20,0 FPS. It's a joke. The B240 pump just couldn't keep up with the sustained load, and water temps climbed to a ridiculous 45,0 - 52,0C, leaving the CPU hovering above 90,0C. I tried maxing the fans, but it sounded like a power drill and only dropped the temp by 3,0C—totally useless. I went into the BIOS and switched the pump from 'Auto' to a manual 12,0V full-speed lock and lowered the fan trigger threshold to 50,0C. HWInfo now shows water temps suppressed at 36,0 - 40,0C and cores back down to 78,0 - 84,0C. I felt some weird vibrations after the voltage bump, but tightening the radiator brackets killed the noise. Fans are now steady at 1500,0 - 1700,0 RPM. I've backed up the fan curve profile so I don't have to do this again.
