My Kioxia EXCERIA PLUS G4 1TB keeps tanking in read speeds during foggy scenes in Silent Hill 2, causing full freezes. Why is this happening?

While navigating the Brookhaven Hospital corridors, I noticed my Kioxia EXCERIA PLUS G4 1TB read speeds plummeting from 7000MB/s to around 400MB/s, which triggered a complete game freeze for about two seconds.
