How to stabilize the Fanxiang S910Max 1TB PCIe link?
Right when a gorgeous scene unfolds, the frame rate would plummet from 110 FPS to 45 FPS. It was infuriating, but it helped me pinpoint the issue. The default link policy on the Fanxiang S910Max 1TB had a sync latency of 18-25ms under load, causing the 1% lows to crater. I tried lowering the graphics settings, but while I gained 15 FPS, the game looked like a blurry mess, which was a non-starter. I went into the BIOS, forced the PCIe link speed to Gen 5, and tweaked the Vcore voltage from Auto to 1,22V while disabling energy-saving states. Using a frame time analyzer, the jitter dropped from 20-50ms down to 7-13ms, and the smoothness returned instantly. I actually hit a Blue Screen during the first attempt at locking max frequency, but it stabilized once I dialed in the voltage. Temps are now 52-58C. Internal benchmarks show a smooth frame curve with generation times at 5,1-6,4ms.
