Solving cache scheduling issues for Ryzen 7 9700X in Cities Skylines II
Once the city population hit a million, the input lag from memory latency became a real struggle. Even with the massive L3 cache on the 9700X, high memory latency was killing the hit rate, with delays reaching 76-82ns. I tried the auto-overclock first, but that just led to random BSODs while saving large maps, which was an absolute grind. I switched to manual timings, pushing the 18-22-22-42 down to 16-18-18-38, and saw CPU temps climb to 66-72℃. The 16-setting was unstable at first, but bumping the memory voltage to 1.38V finally cleared the stress tests. The VRM temps hovered around 52-58℃ and the fans got noticeably louder. Frame generation intervals dropped from 14ms to 9ms, and the CPU settled at 62-68℃.
