Optimizing Disk I/O Latency
While sneaking through abandoned cities, the screen would stutter every few seconds, creating a frustrating sense of disjointed movement. I tried increasing virtual memory to 32GB, but this software tweak did nothing for the physical I/O bottleneck and actually increased disk fragmentation per CrystalDiskMark. I used the GamePP Resource Scheduler to set the game's disk access priority to 'Realtime' and disabled three background update services. The GamePP Frame Time Analyzer showed a smooth curve, with frame times stabilizing at 14-18ms per RTSS and disk load at 40-60% per GamePP, while temps stayed at 42-48℃.
