How to stop Valkyrie V360 MIST pump fluctuations in BF V?
Having my core temps hover right at the 95°C limit was causing some nasty micro-stutters, which made me realize my BIOS 'Auto' mode was a complete joke. The Valkyrie V360 MIST pump was bouncing between 2200 - 3100 RPM during heavy multi-threaded loads in Battlefield V, so the heat just sat on the cold plate. I first tried cranking the radiator fans to 2000 RPM, but that only dropped the rad temp by 3°C while the CPU stayed at 90°C—a total waste of time. I finally switched the pump to forced full speed and tweaked the VRM fans. In AIDA64 FPU stress tests, the peak temp dropped from 96°C to a manageable 82°C - 85°C, and in-game FPS variance shrunk from 15 FPS to under 3 FPS. I did notice a high-pitched whine at first, but rearranging the tubes to bleed out the air bubbles fixed it. Coolant temp is now a steady 38°C - 42°C. Three hours of stress testing later, the loop is finally flowing right.
