Dealing with RT500 Digital thermal spikes in Days Gone?
Whenever I hit a dense zombie swarm, the game starts stuttering like crazy, which is a total disaster for a survival game. The PCcooler RT500 Digital just couldn't keep up with the bursts; temps would skyrocket from 60℃ to 92℃ in half a second, causing the CPU to bounce violently between 3.0 GHz and 4.8 GHz. I tried switching the Windows Power Plan to High Performance, but that just pushed temps to 98℃ and crashed my PC. That whole trial-and-error phase was incredibly stressful. I eventually went into the BIOS and set a negative voltage offset of -0.05V to cut the heat, while forcing the fans to 100% once they hit 80℃. In AIDA64 stress tests, core temps leveled out at 78-84℃, and frame times tightened from 22-35ms to a stable 14-18ms. I did have a few random reboots at idle after the undervolt, so I had to back it off to -0.03V to stop the instability. Now CPU power is steady at 120-135 Watts, and the noise is actually bearable. The input lag is gone, and the game feels buttery smooth now.
