How to optimize AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D for The First Descendant?
The CPU scheduling on this thing felt like a total coin toss—one second it's ripping on the 3D cache cores, the next it's idling on the standard cores. In a game like The First Descendant that lives and dies by cache, this was a complete nightmare, with frame times jumping erratically between 4ms and 18ms. I tried disabling every single background service in Windows, but that only saved me 1GB of RAM and did absolutely nothing for the stutters; it felt like trying to stop a leak with a sieve. I eventually used a process manager to hard-bind the game to physical cores 0-7 and killed unnecessary thread migration. Checking RTSS, the jagged frame time graph flattened into a smooth line. I actually messed up the first attempt by leaving SMT on, which caused a resource conflict and dropped my FPS by 15; I had to tweak the core mask to get the real gains. Temps are now 62-74℃ with an 85W peak. I exported the scheduling timestamps to verify, and fan speeds are humming along at 1400-1600RPM.
