How to optimize Kioxia EXCERIA PRO 2TB disk I/O for Neverness?
This drive is a total nightmare in open-world sections; I/O wait times were hitting 210 ms, and it felt like my PC was gasping for air. The Kioxia EXCERIA PRO 2TB just couldn't keep up with high-frequency texture swaps, with page file swapping jumping between 55-75 ms, causing a hard freeze every six seconds. I tried killing every single background app, but disk usage only dropped by 4%, which was a complete waste of time. I eventually locked my virtual memory at 16 GB on the fastest partition and used Task Manager to throttle system log write frequency. In Resource Monitor, hard page faults dropped from 150/s to 22/s, and the stutters mostly vanished. I tried 32 GB at first, but the system boot was agonizingly slow until I dialed it back to 16 GB. Temps are around 58-65 C, and my logs show fan speeds stable at 1400-1600 RPM.
