Why does HELLDIVERS stutter during unit summoning?

Summoning units caused maddening stutters. I tried virtual memory tweaks, but it made things worse. I used GamePP NVMe Config to set queue depth to 2048. CrystalDiskMark showed 4K reads jumping from 45-52MB/s to 68-75MB/s. It's a solid export for smooth play.
