RTX 5080 Storm OC dropping frames in 4K? Here is the fix.
While exploring ruins, my FPS would slowly slide from 90 down to 60—a classic sign of thermal throttling. The default fan profile on the Gainward RTX 5080 Storm OC was way too conservative, staying at 1200 RPM until 75°C, which let the core hit 85-88°C. I tried switching to a 'Balanced' power plan in BIOS, but it only dropped the temp by 2°C while making the 1% lows even worse. I used a third-party tool to force the fans to 80% at 65°C and bumped up the front intake fans in my case. HWiNFO showed the max core temp dropping to 74-78°C, and the FPS variance stayed within 5-10
