Boosting disk I/O speed on Onda 9D4-DVH for World of Warcraft
Entering a main city felt like a meditation session because the loading bar would just sit there. The disk controller on the Onda 9D4-DVH was choking on fragmented addon files, with random read speeds hitting a dismal 0.5-1.2MB/s. I tried running a disk defrag in Windows, which actually made the loading take 10 seconds longer—I honestly wanted to throw my monitor. I went into the BIOS to double-check that AHCI mode was enabled and then tweaked the registry to prioritize the SSD's response level. CrystalDiskMark showed 4K reads jumping from 1.1MB/s to 2.8MB/s, and my load times dropped from 45 seconds to 22 seconds. I actually broke the boot sequence after the first registry edit and had to reset the default boot entries to get back in. Now the drive stays between 35°C - 42°C. I've exported the optimized registry keys as a backup, and the drive temp is steady at 35°C - 42°C.
