Why is my Colorful H610M-K M.2 V20 throttling in FF XVI?
During combat scenes with massive particle effects, the VRM modules on the Colorful H610M-K M.2 V20 spiked to 96-102℃. This heat soak triggered a hardware safety throttle, tanking my CPU clock from 4.4GHz down to a pathetic 1.2GHz, which made the game stutter like crazy. At first, I tried locking the OS to High Performance mode, but that just cooked the VRMs faster and crashed my system after ten minutes—totally frustrating. I eventually slapped some small heatsinks on the VRM area and navigated to BIOS -> Advanced -> Power Management to tweak the PL1 long-term power limit from 65W down to 45W. Checking HWiNFO, the VRM temps dropped to 78-84℃, and my clocks stabilized between 3.8-4.4GHz. It was a struggle at first because the heatsinks didn't seat right, but once I reapplied thermal paste and tightened them, it worked. CPU cores now sit at 68-75℃ with fans at 2200 RPM. Stress tests show no more throttling, and frame times are rock steady at 5.1-6.4ms.
