Fixing Intel 660P Latency Spikes
Traversing Rapture in BioShock 4 felt like fighting a laggy server; the Intel 660P 512GB SLC cache exhausted instantly, spiking 4K random read latency from 12ms to 45ms per CrystalDiskMark. I tried increasing the page file, but it made things worse, causing disk write conflicts that dropped my frame rate to 42 FPS via RTSS. I switched to GamePP NVMe Queue Depth Configuration, raising the queue depth from 64 to 256 and setting I/O priority to High. This allowed the drive to handle bursts without stalling.
