Why is my Kioxia Exceria Pro 1TB lagging in A Plague Tale?
Whenever I hit those town streets covered in rats, the game just chugs, and the stuttering makes the controls feel completely unresponsive. I noticed my Kioxia Exceria Pro 1TB read speeds were swinging wildly between 5.2GB/s and 6.8GB/s, with IO response peaks hitting a nasty 115ms. I tried killing all background update services first, but that was a total waste of time—it did absolutely nothing for the underlying IO queue. Eventually, I dove into Device Manager and flipped the disk policy from 'Quick Removal' to 'Better Performance' and manually locked my virtual memory paging file between 16-24GB. Checking Resource Monitor, the disk active time dropped from a choked 95% down to a healthy 40-52% range, and my frame times finally settled between 14-18ms. I actually bricked my driver visibility for a second when messing with the registry, but it came back once I dialed the write cache value back to 0x00000001. Temps stayed chill at 46-52℃. According to my analysis tools, the latency curve is finally flat, and the frame delivery is rock steady at 14-18ms.
