AMD Ryzen 7 9700X performance tuning for Mass Effect
Just as I'm jumping between galaxies, that feeling of total fluidity is shattered by a violent frame drop—the contrast is just jarring and stressful. The data showed the Ryzen 7 9700X was hitting scheduling delays of 15-22ms during multi-threaded tasks, causing frame times to bounce wildly between 12ms and 40ms. I tried enabling 'Ultimate Performance' mode in Windows, but while the clocks stayed high, the stutters remained; it was clear I needed a low-level fix. I went into the BIOS, set PBO to manual, and locked the core frequency at 5.1GHz, while using affinity software to bind the game to physical cores. In RTSS, the frame time variance tightened to 10-14ms, and scene transitions became silky smooth. I did experience two random reboots under full load at first, but tweaking the SoC voltage to 1.2V completely stabilized it. The CPU now stays between 72-78℃ at roughly 105W. Tests confirm the drops are gone, and the processor mode is switched.
