Is my AK620 failing to keep up with Marvel Rivals?
When every hero dumps their ultimates at once, my frames plummeted from 144,0 to 60,0 FPS. It was actually exciting because it pointed directly to a thermal bottleneck. The AK620 base couldn't handle the transient power spikes, and I watched my temps jump from 65,0C to 98,0C in a single second, triggering the CPU's clock protection. I tried forcing the core clocks in software, but that just gave me a BSOD—way too aggressive. I ended up ripping the cooler off and replacing the stock paste with high-conductivity liquid metal, then set the fan curve to hit 100% at 70,0C. In RTSS, my 1% lows jumped from 42,0 to 88,0 FPS, and temps are now pinned at 72,0 - 76,0C. I messed up the first application and leaked some liquid metal, but a thorough cleanup with isopropyl alcohol saved the day. Fans are now humming at 1400,0 - 1800,0 RPM. Performance is finally consistent.
