Solving write latency on Seagate FireCuda 530 500GB
Right when thousands of rats swarm the screen, the game would just hitch violently before recovering. My FireCuda 530 500GB only had 15% free space left, which triggered massive write amplification; during autosaves, write latency spiked from 0,5ms to a staggering 35ms. I tried turning off high-precision shadows, and while the average FPS went up, the saving stutters remained. I got excited to try some low-level storage fixes, so I manually triggered a full-drive TRIM and cleared enough space to get above 40% free, then toggled the high-performance write mode in the driver.
