Destiny 2 storage read and NVMe cache tuning on Onda H610E-B
Running a AAA game on this entry-level board was testing my patience. Every time I entered a new planet, the screen would freeze for 0.3s like a slideshow. The GamePP sensor page showed NVMe queue depth was pathetic, between 2-5, meaning resource requests were just piling up. I tried moving the game to a SATA SSD, but loading times doubled—a complete joke of an optimization. I then opened the GamePP NVMe Queue Depth Config and forced the depth from 32 up to 128, while enabling forced write cache refresh. In CrystalDiskMark, 4K random reads jumped from 30MB/s to 52-60MB/s, and the freezes stopped.
