Fixing bandwidth bottlenecks on ADATA ValueRAM in Metro Exodus?
Walking through those abandoned tunnels was ruined by these tiny 0.2-second hitches; in a game this immersive, that kind of jank is just unacceptable. I checked the stats and found that the single-channel setup on my ADATA ValueRAM 8GB DDR5 4800 was only hitting about 30GB/s, which left the CPU just waiting around for data. I tried the 'Performance' power plan in the drivers, but that only gave me a pathetic 3 FPS boost and didn't touch the stutters. I eventually went into the BIOS and switched from Auto to Manual, pushing tCL down from 40 to 36 and bumping the voltage to 1.15V. The RivaTuner frame time graph went from a jagged mess to a smooth line between 16-22ms. I actually tried pushing for a tCL of 32, but the system just started random rebooting, so I backed off to 36 for stability. Memory temps are sitting at 42-48℃. The bandwidth bottleneck is finally gone, and the game feels fluid again.
