Is the Thermalright PA120 V3 failing to cool in Neverness?
It was honestly ridiculous—a dual-tower cooler letting my CPU hit 98℃ in ten minutes. The PA120 V3 fans were way too slow to react, letting heat soak the cores until the clock dropped to 3.2GHz. I tried setting the fans to 100% flat, but my case sounded like a jet engine taking off and the temps only dropped by 3℃, which was a total waste of time. I ended up ripping the cooler off, swapping the stock paste for liquid metal, and setting a custom curve: 60℃ for start and 100% at 80℃. In AIDA64 FPU tests, the peak temp dropped from 98℃ to a manageable 82-85℃. I almost fried my motherboard when applying the liquid metal, but I managed to seal the capacitors with Kapton tape just in time. Fans are now spinning at 1600-1800 RPM, which is audible but tolerable. The system is finally stable, though liquid metal is a nerve-wracking process.
