Why is my Jingyue X99M-PLUS D4 choking on Sims 5 assets?
Building complex home scenes was a nightmare; the screen would just hitch violently, making the editing process feel completely broken. I noticed the memory controller on the Jingyue X99M-PLUS D4 was struggling with multi-channel data, with bandwidth swinging wildly between 32GB/s and 48GB/s, which pushed my frame times from a steady 12ms up to a choppy 35ms. I wasted some time trying to bump the virtual memory to 64GB in Windows, but that was a total dead end since the bottleneck was physical bandwidth. I eventually dove into the BIOS Advanced Memory settings and forced all channels to lock at 2133MHz, while nudging the voltage from 1.2V to 1.35V to keep the signal clean. After running AIDA64, I saw memory latency drop from 92ns to a consistent 78-82ns, and those instant stutters just vanished. Interestingly, my first attempt at enabling the XMP profile caused an immediate BSOD upon launching the game, and I only got it stable after loosening the tRAS timings. Memory temps stayed around 45-52℃ with the VRM sitting at 60-65℃. I verified the frequency curve via the motherboard panel, and frame times are now rock steady at 12-18ms.
