Fixing Jonsbo CR-1400E boost instability in Remnant 2?
Fighting those massive otherworldly monsters is epic, but having my FPS tank from 100 to 40 in a heartbeat is a total mood killer. The Jonsbo CR-1400E struggled with the high-frequency data bursts, with core temps oscillating between 72-78℃. This caused the boost clock to flip-flop between 4.2 GHz and 4.7 GHz, creating some nasty screen tearing. I tried enabling Ultimate Performance mode in Windows, but that just pushed the CPU to 92℃ and made the fans sound like a vacuum cleaner. Not a viable move. I went into the BIOS, manually dropped the CPU current limit from 255A to 200A, and reseated the cooler base to ensure a perfectly flat contact. In the 3DMark Time Spy test, my minimum FPS jumped from 65 to 82, and the variance dropped to under 3%. I did notice some background apps launched slower after the current limit, but switching to the Balanced power plan fixed that. CPU power is now stable at 110-125 Watts with temps at 68-73℃. The game finally feels fluid, though the cooler is definitely at its limit.
